Wat Prathaat Doi Suthep

Wat Prathaat Doi Suthep which dates back to 1383, is the most important and visible landmark in Chiangmai, it offers panoramic view of the city as one reaches 309 steps. Constructed during the Lanna Thai dynasty, it is considered the symbol of Chiangmai. Located at 3,500 feet above sea level and only approx. 45 minutes by road from Chiangmai down town.

The program includes a demonstration of how trained Elephants are used to help in logging work. A stop will be made also at the beautiful Orchid Nursery on this route.

Just 50 kilometers north of Chiangmai, visit Mae tamann Elephant Camp, see elephants at work and ride them into the forest, where you can enjoy being closer to nature, also provides good opportunities for bamboo rafting and ox-cart ride. On the way back, a stop will be made at the Long Neck Karen Ladies / Hmong Village and Orchid farm etc., This tour start at around 08.00 am and end at 4-5 pm.

Doi Inthanont National Park ( Full day tour )

Approx. 105 kilometers further down to the south-west of Chiangmai is well know Doi Inthanont National Park which covers an area of 1,005 square kilometwrs is located on Doi Inthanont , Thailand’s highest mountain which is 2,565 meters above sea level. This mountain ranges also give birth to the main tributaries of the Maenam Ping ( Ping River ) and formed many of the beautiful waterfalls. Enjoy much beautiful scenery and unspoiled nature along the way. Visit the Royal Project / Karen Tribal Village / Hmong Tribal Village as well as the most beautiful waterfall !

Chiangrai - Golden Triangle - Myanmar Border - Chiangsaen ( 2 days 1 Night )

Chiangrai City located on the north of Chiangmai which is about 180 kilometers and an approx. 3 hours by road. It is not only Thailand’s northern most province that borders both Laos and Burma ( Myanmar ), but it’s also one of the tourist destination . Much of what you will see at Chiangrai’s temple stems from its old heritage. Among the many temples within Chiangrai you may wish to visit Doi Tung , Mae Fah Luang Garden or Princess Mother’s Royal Villa rising 2,000 meters above sea level.

Mae Sai ( Myanmar Border ) 66 kilometers north of Chiangrai and it’s also the northern most point of Thailand. Mae-Sai itself is relatively undistinguished , but it is the gate way to other attractions of interest. The last extent of the town’s main road as it approaches the border crossing to Myanmar features shops selling jade and other gems that are actively traded between Myanmar and Thailand , also there are stands offering local and hill tribe handicrafts of all sorts for sale. Upon completing the Mae-Sai visited , further to the would famous Golden Triangle. Not only is this spot the place where the borders of Tnailand , Laos and Myanmar meet , but it was , of course notorious for being the center of large share of the world’s opium production.

A worth while spot to visit : the Opium Museum which has exhibits concerning the history of opium production in the region at the past. Now a day, Golden Triangle turned to the most attractions place to visit in the north of Thailand.

Continue on from the Golden Triangle to Chiangsaen . This town has a very ancient and stormy history. It was founded in 1327 by a grandson of King Mengrai ( Founder of Chiangmai ) , on the site of much more ancient city. The town of Chiangsaen itself is shaded and attraction front on the Mae Khong river.

One hour by road from Chiangsaen is the Union of Hill tribes Village , visit Long Neck Karen / Akha / Yao / Palong and Hmong etc., Before leaving Chiangrai , a stop will be made at the one and only temple in Thailand “Wat Rong Khun” to visit incredible White Temple , the creation of the Buddhist Artwork for the Auspicious offering to the Lord Buddha. Other places on route ( if interested ) are able to visit on request if time permit and possibility !
